How to Find a Proctor* and Request an Exam

[*A proctor is someone selected to supervise an examination, relatives or friends are not permitted to proctor exams.]

Students living in the Kalamazoo area

  • You may choose to have our office proctor the exam at the ATIS testing center located on WMU's main campus in Ellsworth Hall Room, Room 1343.
  • Please call or email the online form at least 48 hours in advance to schedule an exam.
  • Our testing times are: 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday − Friday.

Students living outside the Kalamazoo area

  • WMU has branch campuses located in Battle Creek, Benton Harbor, Lansing, Muskegon, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City that can proctor exams for online courses at no charge, please call (several days in advance) WMU branch campus to schedule a testing time. For the WMU Lansing Branch please call (517) 483-9728 to schedule a proctored exam at least three days before you want to take the exam.
  • Students who are not near a WMU branch campus must contact and arrange to have their exam proctored at a local public library or community college or other testing center available in your area.
  • If you will be taking the exam at a WMU branch campus or other location, you need to contact the branch campus or alternate location and schedule a time to have your exam proctored. This information should be received by the ATIS office 48 hours before you are scheduled to take the exam. Our office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you wish to email your request, please email to atis-support@wmich.edu.
  • Exams or instructions for online exams are sent directly to the proctor and in order to be valid, must be returned by the proctor. All students are required to present picture identification before taking exams. Exam information will be sent to your proctor after we receive the following information or complete the online form.

    3. Course
    4. Exam Requested
    5. Proctor's Name
    6. Proctor's Title
    7. Facility Name
    8. Proctor's Work Email Address
    9. Proctor's Fax
    10. Proctor's Phone Number
