WMU Community Golf Outing

To Build Community At Western Michigan University

APA and ATIS have organized a 9 hole golf outing for the WMU campus community. Anyone affiliated with WMU may play in this event. The WMU golf outing is designed to introduce and build relationships within the campus. Join us after work for this fun event.

What: Community Golf Outing - Scramble - Shotgun Start - Longest Drive - Shortest Drive
Where: The Prairies - Map
When: Friday, August 17, 2007 at 5:30. Golfers must check in at the Prairies between 5:00-5:15 p.m. Shotgun start begins at 5:30PM.
Cost
: $32/person (includes 9 holes with cart, cash bar, gratuity, prizes, and picnic burger buffet with soft drink. Vegetarian option available). You will have an opportunity during the registration to purchase a Mulligan for $2 each. This money will help support future outings and prizes.
Why: To Build Community at Western Michigan University.

Registration Deadline: Monday, August 13th, 2007. Everyone must register online. After you have registered online, you must print off your registration and send or hand deliver your payment to Amy Seth, Student Recreation Center, Western Michigan University, 1903 W. Michigan Ave., 49008. Mail stop 5447.

Details: Since the goal of this outing is to "build community" at WMU, people may register as a single (and be matched up with someone) or as a double. Doubles will be matched up with another pair from another department within WMU to create a foursome. This will give you the opportunity to meet new colleagues. Golf will conclude at the clubhouse with a burger buffet and cash bar. Name tags will be provided.

Note: This event is limited to 48 people. We will double up some teams so more people can play. Andy Arnold will Coordinate.

Event Organizers: This event is organized by Amy Seth, Linda Hunt, Andy Arnold, and Kirk Sundling. This event is a coordinated effort of both Administrative Professional Association & Academic Technology and Instructional Services.

Questions regarding this event can be directed to Amy Seth amy.seth@wmich.edu or 269-387-4732.

Cancellations or questions regarding registration may be directed to Andy Arnold raymond.arnold@wmich.edu or (269) 387-3765.

Scramble Format - An example of Scramble would be as follows:  If player A hits the ball on the fairway and player B hits the ball in the water, the “Best Ball” is the ball on the fairway.  All players hit from the Best Ball location. It is fun and everyone can golf and not feel pressured.

Shotgun Start - A shotgun start begins with all groups of players teeing off simultaneously from different holes. Each hole on a course will be the tee off hole for each foursome. Group 1 would start from hole 1, Group 2 from hole 2, etc.. Each group starts play at the same time. A shotgun start will allow all of us to end at the same time and eat together.  If there are more than 9 teams, some double up at the par 4 and/or 5 holes.

Longest Drive - A longest drive contest will involve teeing off and seeing who got the longest drive in the fairway on a particular hole. A Men's and women's prize will be awarded.

Shortest Drive - For the Duffers and Hackers among us, prizes will be awarded to the person with the shortest drive (it must make it off the tee box).

Mulligan - An example of a mulligan is when a golfer hits the ball terribly and gets another chance. There is a 1 mulligan limit for each player for this outing.
