An Information Session regarding Open Learning will be held Friday, April 11th, from noon to 1 pm for faculty, deans, directors and department heads in the Ellsworth Hall conference room 1421. Sign up now and free lunch is provided.
What is Open Learning?
Open Learning courses are self-paced, instructor-facilitated undergraduate online courses that allow students to select a start date independent of semester calendars. The student then completes the course within 6 months from the start date.
Student benefits
- Flexible start dates
- Flexible end dates – the course ends upon student completion of course requirements (up to 6 months from start date)
- The convenience of online delivery
- Self- paced – students are able to complete the course at their own pace within the 6 month time frame
Faculty, department, and college benefits
- Enables departments to provide flexible alternatives to many different audiences (graduating seniors, transfer students, dual enrollment, military, and more)
- Faculty may receive an e-teaching stipend
- Faculty may attend an e-teaching endorsement session specifically for Open Learning courses
- Departments and colleges receive revenue share per the EUP revenue share model.
